Intro

Hi, i'm Matt and i'm on a quest to turn an "ordinary" store-bought desktop computer into an ULTIMATE MEDIA MACHINE!!! without spending much money. I started my journey when my grandma bought a computer to replace the one she had, which was 5 years old at the time. She gave me the old one instead of throwing it away because I didn't have one yet. about 2 weeks later, the new one gave her problems so she bought ANOTHER one! It was stupid to do that but hey, I ain't complaining! It turns out the hard drive commited suicide (LOL). Luckily I had that old HP sitting there so I transplanted the hard drive (and the DVD drive while I was at it) and installed Windows XP x64. It was about that time that I discovered cheap computer parts from HongKong and thus my journey began. My computer is an HP Pavillion a6703w with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.7GHZ, 5GB RAM Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB SATA hard drive, a Samsung-LG DVD+/-RW drive, a CD-RW drive with built-in Redbook audio player, and a 3.5-inch DSDD floppy drive. All of the parts I ordered from HongKong are still on their way here so i'll update when I install them.
